Welcome to your child’s library! Your child will visit the library every week and will have independent book choice. Be sure to check your child’s class schedule for designated day and time. Please find a special place to keep the library book so you can help your child to remember to return the book each week. If your child forgets the book, he/she will not be permitted to check out another book. This year will be doing old things new ways! I look forward to learning with your child!
Here’s a short film showing a day in the life of New York City’s public libraries. This is a touching portrait of libraries in the modern era, and I think we can all see ourselves in these stories somewhere. Enjoy:
HOW HAVE LIBRARIES AFFECTED YOU?
Were you a “library latchkey kid” like me? Do you take your own kids to libraries now? Do you use library reference services? How about online services? (Where I live, the library’s online resources — including online renewal and free research librarian help are awesome.) Share your library stories in the comments.
