Watch the video,The History of Mother’s Day.
Instead of buying your mom or that special woman in your life a card, make one! Use the book written by Barbara Joosse, I love You the Purplest for inspiration.
Here is an example:
I Love You the Purplest
by Maddie, sixth grade poet
I love you, Mom, the purplest.
I love you the color of a warm starry night,
The purple mountain majesty.
I love you the color of the soft mist of after rain.
The ripe, juicy bite of a plum,
The elegance of royalty,
The lilac bush waiting to be smelled.
I love you, Mom, the color of hope.
Encourage students to have fun trying new techniques, word choice and organization! Ask students to share their poem by commenting on the blog.
